Biography
Steven Maijoor is an Executive Board Member of De Nederlandsche Bank and Chair of Supervision. Furthermore, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank (ECB). Before Steven joined DNB's Executive Board in 2021, he spent a decade as chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), where he was involved in the convergence and coordination of financial reporting supervision across the European Union (EU), and provided advice to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and EU bodies based on experience of supervising the use of IFRS Accounting Standards. He also represented ESMA in the Board of IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions). Between 2004 and 2011 he was a director at the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and was inter alia responsible for the supervision of financial reporting and auditing. Before that, he was a Professor of business economics (1994–2004) and Dean (2001–2004) at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University.
