
Joong-Kyung Choi has served as Minister of Trade, Industry & Energy and First Vice Minister of Finance and Economy in South Korea. He was also Chief Economic Policy Advisor to former South Korean President MB Lee.
From 2016 to 2020 he served as President of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, where he played a central role in introducing the 2017 Accounting Reform Act, which brought major reforms to enhance auditor independence.
He has also previously served as Ambassador to the Philippines and as Executive Director at the World Bank Group.
He is an Emeritus Professor at Korea University and holds a PhD in economics from the University of Hawaii Manoa.
