Merran Kelsall AO

Biography

Merran Kelsall AO is an independent non-executive director with more than 25 years of board-level experience in the public and private sectors and considerable expertise in corporate governance, finance, audit, risk and compliance. She currently serves on the Nominating Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

She was Deputy President, President and Chair of CPA Australia from 2017–2023 and Chair and CEO of the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2004–2017. Ms Kelsall was a member of the Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) Advisory Council and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), where she chaired its Integrated Reporting Working Group. She also was a Professor of Practice in the School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation at the University of New South Wales Business School.

Ms Kelsall has been recognised as a Life Fellow at the Australian Institute of Company Directors and inducted into the Australian Accounting Hall of Fame. In 2023, she was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her distinguished service to the financial accounting sector, professional organisations and the community. Ms Kelsall is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA) and Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (FCA). She has an MBA from Melbourne University.
