The International Accounting Standards Board's (IASB) Global Preparers Forum (GPF) has appointed Geetika Arora as a member for an initial five-year term. Ms Arora brings the perspective of a preparer at a large multinational, including expertise on the implementation of global accounting standards and IFRS adoption.
Currently serving as Director of Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting at IBM Corporation, Ms Arora leads a team responsible for the assessment and consistent application of US GAAP accounting policies and implementation of new IFRS Accounting Standards applicable to IBM. Her role includes developing technical accounting positions that underpin the company’s SEC compliant financial reporting and overseeing the consistent application of IFRS policies.
Prior to joining IBM, Ms Arora held technical accounting roles at Deloitte and Infosys. At Infosys, she was part of the team that initiated IFRS adoption.
The GPF is a body independent from the IASB and the IFRS Foundation, with the specific aim of providing the IASB with regular input from the international community of preparers of financial statements.
GPF members are established commentators on accounting matters and have considerable practical experience of financial reporting, either through their careers or by their work with representative bodies. Members are drawn from a variety of industry and geographical backgrounds and are selected by the GPF on the merits of their professional competence and practical preparer experience to contribute to the development of high-quality global accounting standards.
