Lee White will leave the IFRS Foundation early 2024, following six years of service as Managing Director. He has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), effective March 2024.

Mr White joined the IFRS Foundation in 2018.  During his tenure, he worked with Trustees to lead significant transformational change across multiple aspects of the Foundation. This includes the creation of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the consolidation of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and the Value Reporting Foundation, the transition in leadership of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the digital transformation of the Foundation’s activities.

Following the successful completion of this work, Mr White has informed the Trustees of his intention to step down from his current role following the February 2024 Trustees’ meeting in Madrid. The Trustees’ Nominating Committee will lead the appointment of his successor, supported by a global executive search firm.

Erkki Liikanen, Chair of the IFRS Foundation Trustees, said:

Lee has provided inspirational leadership to the Foundation during a period of significant organisational transformation. He has also served as a trusted partner to the Trustees and me as its chair, as well as to the Board leadership during this time. We have been privileged to enjoy from his commitment and his contribution. He can be rightly proud of his achievements during his tenure, and we wish him well in his new important role.

Lee White said:

I would like to thank my colleagues, the Trustees, members of the IASB and ISSB and our many stakeholders around the globe for great collaboration over the years. The IFRS Foundation is a truly unique organisation with a very important role in the financial regulatory system. My new role keeps me involved in the broader IFRS family, and I look forward to continuing engaging with my colleagues and our stakeholders.
