G20 focuses on launch of ISSB’s inaugural standards

At the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Bengaluru, India, its meeting summary noted that it: “[L]ooks forward to the early finalization of standards by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) for climate-related financial disclosures, and its work beyond climate.

Final decisions made on IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards

At its February meeting in Montréal, Canada, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) agreed that its initial ISSB Standards, S1 and S2, will become effective starting January 2024. Given sustainability disclosure is new for many companies globally, the ISSB will introduce programmes that support those applying its Standards as market infrastructure and capacity is built.

International Conference on Sustainability Disclosure─3 March

This conference being held in Tokyo, Japan, brings together companies, investors, market participants, stock exchanges, audit firms, standard-setters, regulators and policy makers to exchange views on jurisdictional approaches and the progress towards a global baseline so far as well as next priority topics beyond climate.

This event will be hosted online and in person; registration is free.

Call for new members to Global Preparers’ Forum

Candidates from the emerging economies, North America and South America, who may have experience in the technology and/or media sectors, are being sought to join the Global Preparers’ Forum in June 2023.

The Global Preparers Forum is an independent body from the IASB and the IFRS Foundation, with the specific objective of providing the IASB with regular input from the international community of preparers of financial statements.
