About the Financial Instruments Consultative Group

The Financial Instruments Consultative Group (FICG) is a group of appointed members comprising preparers and users of financial statements with expertise relating to financial instruments.

The FICG provides the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) with access to practical experience and expertise from stakeholders in different geographical locations and industries to inform the IASB’s work related to financial instruments.

The purpose of the FICG is to consider research and analysis done by the IASB staff and to advise the IASB on developing proposals and requirements related to accounting for financial instruments.

The FICG consists of preparers from both financial and non-financial institutions and users of financial statements, from a variety of jurisdictions and backgrounds.

The FICG generally has two regular meetings each year, including one in-person meeting at the IFRS Foundation's offices in London. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed to provide timely input and advice on the IASB’s work.

The meetings of the FICG are open to the public, and anyone interested in attending can register as an observer.
