Recruiting for the Board, Interpretations Committee, Advisory Council and Trustees has a lot of moving parts. My job is to manage these processes and to begin building relationships with the people we bring on board

My team and I are responsible for the preparation of all the Foundation’s publications—from consultation documents to the books of IFRS Standards. Over the past two years, we have spearheaded an upgrade of the technology we use to publish and disseminate our content in printed and online formats to make our processes more efficient and ensure we can continue to meet our stakeholders’ needs as they evolve.

I work in the Foundation’s Asia-Oceania office in Tokyo, supporting the Board’s various technical projects. I am seconded to the IFRS Foundation from an accounting firm in Singapore and I look forward to being involved in activities that will strengthen the Foundation’s relationships in the Asia-Oceania region.

Our assistant technical staff members have a passion for accounting and are recruited for a two-year period to support the teams that work on the Board’s standard-setting projects. Typically newly qualified accounting professionals, they bring fresh perspectives and provide an important link to the next generation of financial experts, while gaining valuable international experience and technical accounting knowledge.

My job is to connect our London office with the rest of the world using different technologies, for example, through the live streaming of Board meetings and the recording of educational webcasts. I work with colleagues to make them feel comfortable with these technologies. I am also responsible for making sure the connections work as they should when we have virtual meetings with external parties.

I joined the organisation as a Practice Fellow—a secondee from an accounting firm. The opportunity to make a difference and improve financial reporting made me stay when my 18-month secondment finished. I work on standard-setting and implementation issues related to financial instruments. I also meet with national standard setters, investors, banks and regulators to understand their views on the Board’s financial-instruments related proposals.

As a member of the Translations, Adoption and Copyright team, I support jurisdictions adopting IFRS Standards with contractual arrangements and help them overcome translation-related challenges. I also translate updates and support materials into Spanish to help our stakeholders in the Spanish-speaking world. In addition, I am responsible for facilitating our relationship with the World Bank.

I organise the IFRS Foundation’s events and conferences, including our annual World Standard-setters Conference, liaising with colleagues, the delegates, the venue and other conference partners. Working with colleagues across the organisation, I help develop the conference programme. I also make sure relevant stakeholders are aware of and invited to the events and that all my colleagues know their conference-related responsibilities.

Leading a small team responsible for developing and maintaining our stakeholder engagement strategy is one of my main responsibilities. A key aspect of my role involves facilitating opportunities for a two-way dialogue that helps the Board and technical project team meet their needs and allows for stakeholder views to be heard. By developing a wide range of relationships, I aim to find out about our stakeholders’ needs and gather views on our activities and then feed this back to the organisation.
