Before being made an IFRS Foundation Trustee, Joanna Perry held the position of Chairman of the IFRS Advisory Council since 2014.
She currently holds a variety of senior non-executive positions for a range of listed, public sector and private organisations in New Zealand. Prior to embarking on her non-executive director career she was for 17 years a partner at KPMG in New Zealand. She held a number of leadership roles within KPMG and was the lead partner or senior audit engagement partner on a number of KPMG New Zealand ‘s largest accounts.
She served as Chairman of the New Zealand Financial Reporting Standards Board for eight years until 2011. During this time, she was also a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board, and became a member of the IFRS Interpretations Committee, on which she served for six years.
Joanna was a member of the New Zealand Securities Commission for 11 years from 1997 until 2008.
Joanna read Economics at Cambridge University, qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand. In 2011, she was awarded Membership of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to accounting.
