Mr Zhu joined the Ministry of Finance of China in 1985. He served as the Vice Finance Minister from May 2010 to June 2018 and has also been Chairman of the Accounting Society of China since January 2014. During the periods of 1994–1996 and 2001–2004, Mr Zhu worked in the World Bank as Senior Advisor, Alternate Executive Director and Executive Director for China.
As the Vice Finance Minister, Mr Zhu was in charge of the Customs Tariff Department, coordinating the work of the economic track of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the financial channel for G20.
Mr Zhu currently serves as a Counsellor of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. He has a rich experience in dealing with international economic and financial affairs. With deep knowledge of the development of IFRS Standards and the international convergence of Chinese accounting standards, he also plays a vital role in promoting the research in accounting theory in China.
