Alexsandro is the Group CFO of Itau Unibanco, the largest financial institution in Latin America. He joined Itau in 2012 and previously was Group Controller and Group Chief Accountant. He is also a Professor of Practice in Corporate Financial Reporting at the Alliance Manchester Business School and part-time Professor at the University of São Paulo. During his time at Itau, Alexsandro also served on the board of Cetip and on the audit committee of B3.

In addition to his background as a corporate executive, Alexsandro has experience as a regulator, standard-setter and academic. A former member of the Accounting Standards Advisory Forum (ASAF), the IFRS Advisory Council, the Board of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) and the Brazilian Accounting Standards Board (CPC) he has been heavily involved in the international corporate financial reporting debate. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil when he worked on the adoption of IFRS for Brazilian listed companies.

As an academic, Alexsandro held positions at the London School of Economics, Alliance Manchester Business School, Arizona State University and University of São Paulo. He has been a guest speaker at conferences in Latin America, Europe and North America and his papers were published in journals like the British Accounting Review, International Journal of Accounting, Journal of International Accounting Research and Emerging Markets Review, among others.

A chartered management accountant (FCMA, CGMA) and a Brazilian certified accountant, he has a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Manchester and undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Law from the University of São Paulo.
