Takatsugu Ochi became a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (Board) in July 2011. In 2016, he was reappointed to the Board to serve a second term. Prior to his appointment, Mr Ochi worked for Sumitomo Corporation, one of the largest trading houses in Japan. He has 30 years of experience preparing financial statements and applying accounting standards, including applying Japanese GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS Standards.
From 2006 to 2011, Mr Ochi served as a member of the IFRS Interpretation Committee.
Mr Ochi was secretary-general of the task force for the early adoption of IFRS Standards in Japan, initiated by the Japan Business Foundation (Nippon Keidanren), and an advisory member of various technical committees of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan. He was also a member of the working group on corporate accounting at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and a member of the technical committee for business accounting at the Japanese Financial Service Agency, a government body responsible for banking, securities and insurance.
Mr Ochi studied economics at Kobe University, Japan.
