Garth Coppin is a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Council (FRSC) of South Africa.
He represents the FRSC on the IFRS Advisory Council. The FRSC was formed after the South African Companies Act 2011 permitted companies to use IFRS or the IFRS for SMEs without the need for a local endorsement process. It advises the relevant Minister on matters relating to financial reporting Standards.
His previous roles include being a partner with Ernst & Young South Africa in its technical department as well as being a member of the professional bodies that set auditing standards and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountant’s Accounting Practices Committee.
