Biography:

Ellen Gaston is a Senior Financial Sector Expert in the Financial Supervision and Regulation Division of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

She represents the IMF on the IFRS Advisory Council. The IMF has 189 member countries and works to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.

In her current role, she has led technical assistance missions and conducted seminars to help member countries with IFRS implementation to improve banking regulation and supervision. Prior to joining MCM in 2011, she worked for more than 10 years in the Finance Department of the IMF on financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.

She is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Master’s in Accountancy from the American University, Washington D.C.
