Margaret M. Smyth
Margaret Smyth (also known as Peggy Smyth) was appointed to the IFRS Interpretations Committee in 2008 for a term of three years (Term renewed until June 2014). She is Vice President, Controller of United Technologies Corporation.
Peggy oversees many of the global finance functions for this $50+ billion, Dow 30 diversified company that provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries.
Prior to her current position, Peggy was Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of 3M and a senior partner at two leading global accounting and professional services firms in New York City.
She earned her master's degree in accounting from NYU Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and her undergraduate degree in economics from Fordham University, graduating summa cum laude from both. She is an alumna of the Aspen Institute's Henry Crown Fellows Program.
Peggy serves as a Director for Concern Worldwide (U.S.) and Fordham University.
She is a member of the IFRS Interpretations Committee, Aspen Institute Global Leadership Network and Business Executives for National Security, as well as on the Board of Directors of Mutual of America Investment Corporation.
Peggy, who resides in West Hartford, Connecticut, with her husband and two sons, has a second home in County Roscommon, Ireland and maintains dual citizenship.
