Project news history
At the February 2012 meeting, the boards discussed lessee accounting and, in particular, different methods of amortising the right-of-use asset. The boards asked the staff to perform further outreach on those different methods to assess their operationality and usefulness for users of financial statements. The staff will report back to the boards in Q2 2012. Because of this, the expected timing of publication of the re-exposure document is the second half of 2012.

Joint board meeting on 26 January 2011 cancelled. A Leases session, in which the boards will continue to discuss how to distinguish between a lease contract and a service contract, will instead be held during the joint board meeting on 1 and 2 February

As part of the ongoing series of webcasts about the Leases exposure draft , the IASB staff will be hosting a live webcast on Monday 1 November 2010. This webcast will address common questions the staff are asked about the lease accounting proposals. For participants in different time zones the webcast is scheduled for 10am and 3pm London time.
