About the project

This project is paused until the IASB concludes its ongoing deliberations about its future work plan (visit the Agenda consultation project page for more information).

The objective of this project is to develop, jointly with the FASB, a common definition of discontinued operations, and to require common disclosures related to disposals of components of an entity. As a result of this joint project, the IASB expects to amend IFRS 5 Non-current Assets Held for Sale and Discontinued Operations, and the FASB expects to amend Subtopic 205-20 Presentation of Financial Statements – Discontinued Operations of the FASB Accounting Standards Codification™.

Last IASB meeting update

29 March 2011

The Board tentatively decided that the proposed changes to discontinued operations do not meet the criteria for inclusion in the Annual Improvements Process. The Board also tentatively decided that it would not publish any exposure draft to amend IFRS 5 before the third quarter of 2011.
