Agenda consultation milestones

On 26 July 2011 the IASB launched its first formal public agenda consultation on its future work plan. Comments were requested by 30 November 2011.
Through the agenda consultation the IASB sought input from all interested parties on the strategic direction and the broad overall balance of the work plan. The agenda consultation will provide the Board with important input when considering possible agenda items [for more information on the IASB’s agenda setting criteria, click here]. Read more
The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation introduced the requirement of a three-yearly public consultation on the IASB’s technical agenda in February 2010 in response to comments received on its second Constitution Review. The agenda consultation will provide a formal channel to seek public input on the broad strategic direction, balance and shape of the IASB’s work plan complementing the IASB’s regular consultation with the Trustees and the IFRS Advisory Council on that matter.
In preparation for the publication of this first official consultation document the IASB has consulted with the IFRS Advisory Council and the Trustees.

How we consult
The IASB encouraged broad participation in its agenda consultation. The board raised awareness of the agenda setting process at its conferences in Zurich, Boston and Sao Paolo and arranged a number of small group meetings with interested parties. In addition, and to further enhance the consultation, the board collaborated with local standard-setters around the world. The Board held a number of public round tables between January and March 2012 in Singapore, Norwalk, Toronto and London.

Next discussion by the IASB
The Board next expects to discuss the agenda consultation process at its May 2012 meeting. At this meeting topics for inclusion in the feedback statement will be discussed. |
