Project milestones

About the project
This is part of the third phase of the project to replace IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement. The objective of this phase is to improve the usefulness of financial statements for users by fundamentally reconsidering the current hedge accounting requirements.
The objective is to address risk management strategies referring to open portfolios (macro hedging) which were not covered by the exposure draft issued in December 2010 for general hedge accounting. The deliberation considers the feedback received on the general hedge accounting model.
An exposure draft is expected to be issued in the second half of 2012.
Outreach activities
To support the discussion of risk management for macro hedge accounting the staff and board members are discussing risk management related to open portfolios (macro hedging) with preparers, auditors and industry organisations from various regions.
As a first step the activities are focussed on the management of interest rate risk to develop general principles for a macro hedge accounting approach. After that the discussions will be extended for other risks. |
