About the project

This is part of the third phase of the project to replace IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement . The objective of this phase is to improve the usefulness of financial statements for users by fundamentally reconsidering the current hedge accounting requirements.

The Board is considering hedge accounting of both financial and non-financial hedged items.

The exposure draft issued in December 2010 addresses general hedge accounting. The IASB is continuing to redeliberate macro or portfolio hedge accounting. The feedback received on the general hedge accounting model is important to those redeliberations.

4 August 2011 On Thursday 4 August 2011 the staff of the IASB will present a short webcast to provide an update on the general hedge accounting project. Listen to webcast here.

24 May 2011 On Tuesday 24 May 2011 there were two webcasts by the IASB staff at 10am and 4pm (London time) to provide updates on the statuses of both the impairment and the hedge accounting projects. Click here to listen.
