About the project
The aim of the project is to develop a new single approach to lease accounting that would ensure that all assets and liabilities arising under lease contracts are recognised in the statement of financial position (balance sheet). Read more
The project was added to the IASB’s agenda in July 2006 and is part of the FASB and the IASB’s work programme towards convergence.
In March 2009 the IASB, jointly with the FASB, published a discussion paper Leases: Preliminary Views. The discussion paper was open for comment until 17 July 2009.
In August 2010 the IASB, jointly with the FASB, published an exposure draft Leases. The exposure draft is open for comment until 15 December 2010. |
Last IASB meeting update
19 - 22 July 2010 The boards discussed: lessor accounting – application guidance on when to use the performance obligation or derecognition approaches to lessor accounting, scope – purchase or sale of underlying asset, lessor accounting – accounting for arrangements with service and lease components, consequential amendments - business combinations, and additional disclosures.
