Maria Helena Santana
Maria Helena Santana was appointed Chair and President of the Comissao de Valores Mobiliarios (CVM), the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission, in 2007, completing a five-year term in July 2012. During her tenure at the CVM, Mrs Santana oversaw the successful transition and adoption of IFRS by Brazilian public companies.
Between 1994 and 2006 she was an Executive Officer of the Brazilian stock exchange – BOVESPA, where she was responsible for implementing the Novo Mercado. Mrs Santana also served as Chair of IOSCO’s Executive Committee and a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council. She currently sits on the boards of a number of Brazilian public companies as an independent director.
