Maarika is responsible for enterprise reporting, performance analysis, financial governance, treasury, tax, internal audit and business services, at La Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, one of Canada’s leading institutional fund managers with over $200B of assets.
Prior to joining La Caisse in 2011, she spent 16 years at Bell Canada Enterprises in a variety of senior roles in finance, investor relations, communications and most recently as Senior Vice President, Corporate Services. With 30 years of finance experience, she previously held senior positions with KPMG in audit, corporate finance and business valuation.
Maarika is active on several boards, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the IFRS Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board. She is also a member of the Audit Committee of McGill University and represents La Caisse on the Board of Ivanhoe Cambridge, a leading real estate investment company.
In 2008, Maarika was named to Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 list by the Women’s Executive Network and, in 2013, she received the leadership award from the Association des Femmes en Finance du Quebec.
Maarika holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Quebec and a member of the Institute of Chartered Business Valuators. Maarika has two sons Aleksi and Kristian and enjoys spending time with her husband Martin on cycling trips.
