Mr Shabsigh is an assistant Director in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is responsible for monetary and financial system stability and capital markets.
He represents the IMF on the IFRS Advisory Council. The IMF promotes international monetary cooperation and exchange rate stability, facilitates the balanced growth of international trade, and provides resources to help members in balance of payments difficulties or to assist with poverty reduction.
Dr Shabsigh joined the IMF in 1992 and worked on economic and financial sector reform programs and capacity-building.
Dr Shabsigh holds a PhD in monetary economics and international finance and a number of professional qualifications in banking and securities market operations.
