Chairman of the IFRS Advisory Council
Joanna Perry was appointed as Chairman of the IFRS Advisory Council for three years beginning on 1 April 2014, succeeding Paul Cherry. Joanna Perry has been reappointed to chair the IFRS Advisory Council for a second term effective 1 January 2017.
Joanna holds a variety of senior non executive positions for a range of public and private organisations in New Zealand. Prior to embarking on her non executive director career she was, for 17 years until 2006, a partner at KPMG in New Zealand.
Joanna was a member of the IFRS Interpretations Committee for six years until 2014. She previously served as Chairman of the New Zealand Financial Reporting Standards Board for eight years until 2011. During this time she was also a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board, and became a member of the Asia – Oceania Standard Setting Group. Joanna served as a member of the New Zealand Securities Commission for 11 years from 1997 until 2008.
Joanna read Economics at Cambridge University, qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand. In 2011 she was awarded Membership of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to accounting.
